(Speaks English, Bahasa Malaysia)

My Background

Yen Li has experience working with people of different age groups and diverse backgrounds, ranging from preschool children to adults. She has also collaborated with NGOs to work with refugees and other minorities. She is professionally trained in conducting psychotherapy and psychological assessments to individuals with mood disorders (e.g. depression, anxiety) and neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. intellectual disability, developmental delay). Apart from that, she has also worked with individuals on issues including stress management, self-identity, self-esteem, behavioral, grief, coping with change, relationships, sexuality, and other mental health issues. Additionally, Yen Li understands that psychotherapy may be intimidating at first, thus she strives to provide a collaborative, non-judgmental, and safe environment for her clients. Yen Li is a Malaysian at heart, she doesn't shy away from using a personalized friendly approach that includes using different languages and dialects to keep the engagement of the conversation while keeping the focus of the goal desired. She also utilizes creativity during her sessions as she enjoys using analogies and metaphors to make things relatable to her clients. Above all, she believes incorporating self-care, self-compassion, self-acceptance, and empowerment in her therapeutic approach brings the best out of her clients. Essentially, the end goal of psychotherapy is not to 'cure' or 'fix' a concern, rather for clients to be manageable and be contented with their well-being.
