Burnout is not laziness. It is the opposite. It is what happens when you care too much, for too long, without enough support. You know the feeling: Sunday evenings ruined by dread. Morning alarms that feel like a personal attack. The inability to feel proud of anything you accomplish, because there is always more. You might be performing well on the outside while crumbling on the inside. People keep telling you to rest, but rest does not fix this. The exhaustion goes deeper than sleep can reach.
How We Work With Burnout
We start by naming what is actually happening. Burnout has three dimensions: exhaustion, detachment, and a creeping sense that nothing you do matters. Understanding which ones are driving your experience helps us work precisely, not generically.
Then we look at the structural factors. Malaysian work culture has specific pressures, and we know them well. Long hours are normalised. Saying no feels impossible. The boundaries that would protect you feel career-threatening to set. We help you find the ones that are non-negotiable and build the confidence to hold them.
The deeper work is about reconnecting with why you started. Not motivational slogans. Real clarity about what matters to you and what you are willing to change to protect it.
If your employer partners with Relationary through our EAP programme, your sessions may be fully covered. Ask your HR team or contact us directly.
Common questions
Is burnout the same as stress?
No. Stress is temporary and responds to rest. Burnout is chronic and does not resolve on its own. The WHO recognises it as an occupational phenomenon requiring professional support.
How many sessions will I need?
Many professionals see a meaningful shift in 5 to 10 sessions. Our shorter programmes are a good starting point, with the option to go deeper if needed.
Can my company pay for this?
If your employer subscribes to our Employee Assistance Programme, your sessions may be covered. We can verify your eligibility confidentially.
